September 23, 1926 - December 25, 2019
Passed away very peacefully in his sleep just minutes into Christmas Day. He is predeceased by June , his wife of 65 years and survived by his 4 children Wendy Banister, Barry(Sue), Nancy Rosen (Steve) and Jeffrey. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Mallary, Carsen, Don, Dylan, Colleen, Spencer and Conner and great grandchildren Alyssa, Kieran, Hayden and Olivia. Alfie was the last remaining member of the 10th generation of the Maheu/Maher clan in Canada born of his parents Exeas and Albina(Lortie) and will be missed by the families of Oliver, Silva ,Ernest,Evelyn, Estelle,Florence, Marie and Yvonne. He was a very proud member of Sheet Metal Local 30 and will be remembered by the many retirees of their weekly seniors gathering. He spent many years working for Bothwell Accurate and Heather and Little where he mastered his skills as a sheet metal mechanic. Alfie was a hard working family man ,and was very proud of his work as a metal mechanic, who also enjoyed the many hours spent coaching baseball or relaxing at the lake or watching his Jays on a weekday evening. As host of the many family reunions at Orr Lake his value of "family" was everpresent as he welcomed the many returning family members as well as those who arrived for their first of many. Living on Ellington for over 60 years gave him the chance to meet dozens of people, some who became lifelong friends and many who called on him for help and who helped him when he needed it. Mom and him enjoyed many cruises and weeks in Florida and a trip to England and hosting the many family members who traveled from overseas.
A memorial will be held at Paul O'connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Ave. E. (between Warden and Pharmacy) on Friday, January 3rd, 2020 at 1pm with visitation from 12pm the same day.
His final words to his wife were "I'll see you in Heaven" ..Enjoy the reunion.
