Cynthia Ann Parkes (nee Bradley) 83, of Toronto, passed away June 12, 2020 at the Chartwell Trilogy Home in Toronto. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 64 years, John, her children Bradley (Cecilia) and Denise (Jacques), her grandchildren Kirsten (George), Andrew, Melanie and Charlotte as well as her extended family and friends. Ann, as Cynthia was known to most of those who loved her, was born in Rugby, England where she lived until she immigrated to Canada, with her husband John, at the tender age of 22. Trained as a Tracer/Draftsperson in England, she worked for many years in this field creating drawings for many projects in the GTA including the drawings for HWY 407. John’s career allowed Ann sojourns in London, England and South Carolina, USA. Ann spent endless hours tending to her beautiful gardens during the summer months and had quite a green thumb. She enjoyed knitting and sewing and often made her own dresses when the young couple were first starting their life together. She was very proud of the accomplishments of her children and her grandchildren and loved them unconditionally. Her grandchildren will remember countless hours on the floor spent playing whichever game they chose. She enjoyed travelling with her family and later with just John, visiting places such as Tenerife, Italy, France, Spain , Austria and Belgium to name a few as well many parts of Canada. Vacations started on the back of John’s motorbike, progressed to a canvas tent, canoe and propane stove and finished in first class accommodations in her later years. She experienced many once in a lifetime opportunities such as Expo 67, the Montreal 76 Olympics, wilderness camping and sailing around the British Virgin Islands. A funeral will not be held as per Ann’s wishes. A celebration of her life will be arranged at a later date where we are directed to eat and raise a glass in her honour. Donations in Ann’s name can be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind or to a charity of your choice.
