ROBINSON, Edward David
May 2019
Image 1
Affectionately known as "Eddie", passed away peacefully on May 27, 2019, in his 83rd year. He was born on March 7, 1936 to the late Harry and Blanche Robinson, brother to the late Peter Robinson. Eddie is survived by his wife, Marilyn, daughter Karen (Peter), Brian (Kim), David (Martine). Loving Grampy to Jordan, James, Kristin, Justin, Katelyn, Michael, and Sadie, and his great-grandchildren, Brylee, Lydia, Luke, Eli, and Noah. Eddie was raised in, and spent many days exploring Highland Creek, Ontario. A proud Canadian, Eddie served as a cadet with the Royal Canadian Air Force, as well as with the Royal Canadian Navy Reserve stationed at HMCS York where he supported many relief efforts including Hurricane Hazel. He took great pride as the longest serving member of the 32 Regiment Toronto Signals Band, as a snare drummer, since 1956. A hardworking and dedicated employee of Union Carbide (formerly Dominion Oxygen), and then Waymar, where he was known for his many practical jokes. Always willing to lend a hand, Eddie volunteered as a coach for minor hockey, organizer of weekly euchre games, and the "chauffeur" to many social events for seniors in the community, the list was endless. Eddie lived his life with great strength, courage, compassion and of course, an amazing sense of humour. He regularly cheered on the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays. He loved to bake and was known for his delicious lemon meringue pie, butter tarts, and shortbread. He enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden, feeding the birds and having a cold one on his back deck. He loved his family and friends and he will be greatly missed by so many. A special thank you to the staff at Providence Health Care, particularly the palliative care nurses and social workers for the special care they gave to our Eddie. Friends are welcome to help pay tribute to Eddie at O’Connor Funeral Home 1939 Lawrence Ave. E. Scarborough, on Saturday, June 22, 2019. Visitation at 11 am, Service at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that a donation be made to the Toronto Signals Band, The Lung Association, or a charity of your choice.
