With sadness the Lozano family announces the passing of Pablo J. Lozano Ayllon on Thursday August 23, 2018 in Toronto at the age of 83. Pablo was the beloved husband of Julia, and father of Javier (Maria), George, Albert, Claudia (Hannu), and Julio (Ruthie). He was an extremely proud Abuelo to Jessica, Rebecca, Shane, Ileana, Kasimiro, Lilah, and Mateo. He also leaves behind his sister Olga of Lima, Peru. Pablo was born in Iquitos, Peru. By the time he was 12, he had taught himself English. He completed high school in Iquitos, and won a Fulbright academic scholarship to attend Dartmouth College, an Ivy League university in Hanover, New Hampshire (class of 59). He always held fond and happy memories of his time there, including time with his fraternity: Phi Kappa Psi. Following his studies at Dartmouth, Pablo had a long career with a number of organizations including IBM (in Germany, Uruguay, Brazil, and Peru), Hierro-Peru, Iron Ore Company (Sept-Iles), and the City of Toronto. Pablo immigrated from Peru to Sept-Iles, Quebec, in August of 1976, followed by his family in October of 1977. In July of 1978, they moved to Toronto, where they made their home. In addition to memories of road trips and camping with the family, Pablo will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his guitar playing, his passion and ability at photography, his puttering handiness, his crossword puzzles, and his love of futbol. His friends and family, including nieces, nephews, and cousins, will miss him. Visitation at the Paul O’Connor Funeral Home (1939 Lawrence Ave. East, between Pharmacy and Warden) on Saturday, September 1, 2018 1:00 to 2:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church (3170 St. Clair Ave. East, just east of Victoria Park) at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Society or to the family for the establishment of a scholarship to Dartmouth College. Reception will be held after the Funeral Mass at Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 345 (81 Peard Road, off Victoria Park north of St Clair).
