Passed away at Scarborough General Hospital on Friday, January 4, 2019 after a year-long battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Patricia (nee Dymont) for 56 years and loving father of Leanne and Neil. Predeceased by his sister Janet (Hayes), Reg will be fondly remembered by his sister Lorraine (Nichols), and nieces, nephews, grandchildren and their families. Visitation at PAUL O'CONNOR FUNERAL HOME, 1939 Lawrence Ave. East, Scarborough on Wednesday, January 9th from 2:30-4:00 and 7:00-8:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 10th at 11:00 a.m. Messages of condolences and shared memories can be left for the family by visiting http://www.pauloconnor.ca Reg was born in Toronto on March 13, 1937 and his family moved to the Fergus area when he was 11 years old. He had many adventures in this farming community, but longed for the big "TO", so he packed his bags and returned to Toronto (on his own) at the ripe old age of l6. His first job was with a large hardware supply company, and there he found that this type of work was not fulfilling. He got a job with a trucking company as a driver/shunter, and seemed to love the freedom of the road. After this, he worked as a driver at several trucking companies until his passion to own his own truck became a reality. During his driving career (close to 50 years), he owned three trucks, and was the recipient of many safe driving awards. Reg was a man who loved his vehicles, from his first motorcycle to his last motorhome coach. You could always find him outside cleaning, polishing, or working on his latest vehicle, or yours, if you happened to stop by and park in the driveway. Reg also loved to talk and tell his stories. He often left us amazed with the total recall of the smallest details which could include the serial number of his or his friend’s Harley Davidson. He was a very social person and enjoyed sharing stories on just about any subject with anyone who would listen. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.Reg was born in Toronto on March 13, 1937 and his family moved to the Fergus area when he was 11 years old.
